Poker Run

After his passing, the family of SSG V (as his comrades called him) began annual fundraising events to ensure funding for the scholarships. 2008 a large successful softball tournament was held. Since then, Justin’s mother Vicki has coordinated poker runs.   What is a poker run?   Basically it’s a game of poker. Participants are given a poker card and one card is drawn at various designated locations that are traveled to. Most commonly, those that participate ride a motorcycle. However, we have a parade of all different types of vehicles so riding a bike is not mandatory. Someone will lead the parade of bikes/vehicles to each designated location. A card table is set up at each stop and one card is drawn by each participant. Our designated stops are normally a park, local pub or restaurant.   After we complete our route, all poker cards are reviewed and the top three hands win 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. There is also a chance to buy raffle tickets for various prizes that have been donated from local businesses.
